Why Does Moisturizer Make My Skin Burn? - Oily skin - 1dating.info Community
28 Aug I went out to eat with my sister today and the first thing she said to me was "What happened to you face!" because my cheeks, chin, etc are all dry and red. It feels like a burn and I am having to put cetaphil on it every 10 minutes or so to get some relief and keep my skin from cracking. I would say that it was a. This burning skin sensation on the face symptom is an example of how an overly stimulated nervous can affect the nerve ending on the face, causing them to feel like they are being burned even though they actually aren't. So even though this anxiety symptom can feel odd, it's not harmful or an indication of a serious illness. The only problem is, there is always a burning sensation and my face goes really red and very dry afterwards. It's like the natural oils on my face is being stripped off my skin. So my skin, on the chin area, is very very dry, cracked and sore. I tried a lot of my moisturisers, but they can't seem to do the trick.

Could be a few things. Chemical sunscreen make a lot of people's face burn, so it could be that. I find a lot of water-based moisturizers also make my face burn, so it could be that too.
As mentioned above, dry skin itself can lead to painful feeling, sting or burning sensations. Use warm water to clean your face, and limit your washings to twice a day at most. Further touching and scratching is also counterproductive to healing, and people with this type of irritation should refrain from undue contact with the areas. You can't see these microscopic cuts, but you will definitely feel the sting of them when alcohol touches the area!
That moisturizer contains a chemical exfoliant Glycolic Acid- an AHA as well- it could be that it's too harsh for you. Or it could be other ingredients that your skin finds irritating or an interaction between products of some kind. If it still stings then I would give an oil-based moisturizer a try next.
Maybe moved to a 2. This burning skin on the face feeling can range in intensity from slight, to moderate, to severe. Whenever you feel that "tight" feeling after cleansing it's a potentially bad thing.
I think it might be the glycolic acid; I tried using Stridex in the red box a while back and it made my skin really tight and caused breakouts. I'll look for a moisturizer without a chemical exfoliant. Well, glycolic acid is a totally different kind of chemical than what's in stridex, so I wouldn't necessarily jump to conclusions based on that. But it's a place to start.
Yes that lotion specifically burns my face. I don't have dry skin but something in that facial lotion, really burns my skin. I believe the Healthy Skin lotion has a chemical sunscreen, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
